Geocache Description:

This cache is one of five placed to celebrate the Boy Scouts 100th year of scouting. Unfortunately it is the only one left of the five when I took over maintenance of them. I will look at trying to redo the other four as I have time.

For over 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century. The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys and girls ages 11-18 under the renamed program of Scouting BSA. Scouts learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men and women overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives.

Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
