This little cache was special for me because it is my first and I actually grew up going to this church.... the family farm is located just around the corner on the next road and my father moved back here some years ago. We moved away in 1968 but I have very fond memories of this church, especially of Reverend Ketting and Mrs. Ketting. Reverend Arend Ketting is buried here, if you look you may pass by his grave on the way to the cache. He was a kind and sweet person that taught the children of the church to play chop sticks on the piano. He died of a heart attack on a snowy and cold Christmas Day as he was out picking up a couple of older people for church. They weren’t home and his car quit and he was found along the road apparently having decided to walk to the next house. The church located next to the cemetery was formerly St Joe Baptist Church but in the late 60’s they purchased another church building on T Drive and moved, they are still holding church there. The current church, Church of Deliverance purchased this building some years later. Thanks for sharing my walk down memory lane with this cache.
This cemetery contains graves dating back to the late 1800’s.
NO NIGHT CACHING, LOGS ON THIS CACHE THAT INDICATE NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE!
Since I placed this cache, the church has become abandoned and is sadly neglected and overgrown.
The cache is not located on a grave... As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out.
