A traditional cache set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first ever Geocache and the 3rd Long Itchington Beer Festival, placed near the scenic village duckpond which is over 100 years old.
The cache is opposite The Duck on the Pond, where you might be able to park and gain refreshments. Here’s to the next 10 years!!
When I wrote the above in 2013 I must have been full of hope. Little could I have envisaged the sadness that would come later in 2010.
This cache is now of considerable sentimental value to me as it was placed when I attended the Beer Festival to support (& watch over) my son Ian who was about a third of the way through his chemotherapy for a T cell lymphoma. Alas he was unlucky and had a very aggressive cancer and, although he completed the treatment, he didn't make it and died in December that year.
I couldn't have hoped for a better son and he is still badly missed by us and all his heavy metal mates.

The cache went missing some time in the 2012/13 winter and, although I could have closed it down, I decided for the reasons above to maintain it. It is now in a new position in a groove high up in the tree. It could even safely fit deeper in the groove in winter to be even more inconspicuous.
