This cache is a 35mm film pot located at ground level. Sorry, its remoteness means that it is not accessible to wheelchair cachers.
The published co-ordinates for this cache are for the approximate location where I believe that the closing scene of the Dad's Army film was shot.
This is the scene where members of the Walmington-on-Sea (or is that really Bexhill-on-Sea) Home Guard are standing on the cliff edge when they think they can hear tunnelling beneath them.
Suggested parking here:
N 50° 45.770 E 000° 07.900
The final location is here:
N 50° 45.445 E 000° 07.984
Please feel free to suggest more accurate film location co-ordinates or even let me know if I am totally wrong and the scene was shot elsewhere.
I had hoped to locate the cache nearer to the filming location but that is in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
I therefore checked the Satellite View before selecting a suitable location for this cache and thought that it would be under a water trough.
Blimey!
On reaching the final location it is something much more exciting!
It is the 95% blocked up entrance to a WW2 underground bunker!
And I think there might be more of them in the surrounding area.
Please be careful when retrieving and replacing the cache because there is a long drop just beyond the cache's location (try dropping a small stone through the gap and try to guess how far down it must be).
Finally, the cache has been placed during the lambing season so please keep you pets under strick control as you approach the final leg to ground zero.
