Background (Psyprof): There are two quilt squares here, in view of one another, and in view of the Tennessee – Virginia State line. The property owner told us that the barn where this cache is hidden, and the Clinch Star quilt square is hung, is the oldest tobacco barn in his valley. Built prior to the Chinese chestnut blight, it is constructed entirely of American chestnut wood and is more than 100 years old. A feature that gives this barn a distinctive appearance is the flue chimney that runs along the roof peak. Flue cured tobacco is hung in the rafters of this type of barn, and flue heaters are spaced out on the floor of the barn; the heat from these cures and dries the tobacco. The property owner told us that as a boy he would cut, tie and hang the tobacco in this barn. He does not grow tobacco today, but instead farms cattle. This cache was submitted on the tenth birthday of geocaching!
Parking / Access: Park on the drive next to the road. The cache is a large camo'd prescription bottle, hidden just inside the barn, just inside the corner foundation stone. You should NOT go into the barn to retrieve the cache; it is accessible from outside, by reaching under.
