Welcome to Hollywood Park.
Hollywood Park was a development that began in various stages following WWII in an effort to make affordable housing available to the returning GI's and their families. The returning military had measures created for them to help them make the transition back to the community, there were plans for housing assistance in purchasing a home and mesures set aside to aide the returning GI's an opportunity to get or complete an education and the local Sacramento Jr. College North of here and across from William Land Park was a key part of the Plan. Until the late 50's, early 60's there was family housing on the edge of the campus which bordered the corner at Freeport Blvd. & Sutterville Rd. You would often see the laundry hanging outside the housing drying on clothes lines as you drove by the school.
This Hollywood park area was the new suburbs at that time and still remains a very vibrant unique community.
