Geocache Description:

* Cache is NOT at the posted Coordinates. *

Use this page to find the actual geocache coordinates..
check the pictures

The posted coordinates will take you to the parking area behind Selkirk College (the most convenient parking area relative to the cache site) From there it's a short walk down well used trails to the beach/chute. Cache is a regular size Lock N Lock container. Difficulty is based on the puzzle aspect of the geocache.

Congrats to angelashley1018 for being FTF and winning a green ammo can geocoin.

Both the above and below pictures show examples of the different water levels.

Each picture shows the same scene, the left side is taken during the winter (no water) and the scene on the right side is taken during early spring (water starting to fill the channel).

GEOLOGY

The waterway is called a Chute; this chute was created when the Kootenay River took a new course, abandoned the old oxbow and formed a small channel on the point bar. Water fills this chute at intervals during the year. Early in the spring the channel starts to slowly fill with cold water. As the season progresses, both the depth and temperature increase. The depth can reach 6ft. during high water (summer). In the fall the water level slowly recedes. During winter the water level is low and you could easily walk across the channel. After the water recedes the ground becomes a rich mural of animal tracks.

You will need to cross the chute to reach the cache.
Check the chest for the west coordinate.

To cross the water without getting wet, I'd suggest using one of these fine products from ACME Industries.
