Glengarnock Church was closed and demolished in the 1970's. It was formed in 1870 comprising of people from Kilbirnie, Beith & Dalry, and of course the local folk. Originally built for a United Presbyterian system, became United Free and eventually Church of Scotland. When it closed a time capsule was dug up, containing items of the time. It is held by the Auld Kirk of Kilbirnie. A memorial to the Church in the form of the preserved steeple was erected in the village main street.
The cache is sited near the steeple in a small garden area. There is some vegetation to overcome but it is not difficult. Please do not step on the grassy/ flower bed area, approach from Burnside Street. Burnside street is partially paved. You can park your car at the side of the road.
Warning: During school term time the area opposite the cache site is extremely busy with High School children (new School nearby) so it's best to avoid looking for the cache at 12-1:30pm weekdays.
