Geocache Description:

The Cache is at the above coordinates.

Complete the challenge to log this cache as "Found."

In celebration of 10 years of Geocaching, welcome to Utah’s Top Ten Challenge!

Clearly, many of us are interested, and understandably, excited at being the coveted FTF (First To Find). While this is, in itself, worthy of celebration, there are challenge caches that celebrate your prowess in this achievement, as well. There are also challenge caches that celebrate being the, not quite so coveted, STF (Second To Find).

With that in mind, this challenge is for you to have been, not only FTF and STF, but be Third through Tenth to find, for any ten physical caches. These must be actual physical cache finds. However, any cache size, difficulty, terrain, or location (in or out of Utah) will qualify for this challenge. All previous physical finds do count.

Since none of us are going to go out and inspect the cache log sheet (I’m certainly not going to) to verify your meeting this challenge, the online log will determine qualification. Ultimately, there are instances when the FTF is not actually first to log online. In that case, they still take their rightful place as FTF, and other logs adjust order appropriately.

Many of you cache as “teams” of friends or family members, each with separate accounts. This brings up a challenge for this sort of challenge. Therefore, if three people in your team share an FTF, you are all FTF (as is the common practice). For this challenge, the next person to find, and log it online, is considered STF, and so on. However, if three of you are caching together, and there are four cachers who have already found the specific cache, you are not all 5th to find; you are considered 5th, 6th, and 7th to find. If it is clear that you are caching together, you choose the order.

In order to claim 10th to find a specific cache, for example, you logically need your name to be the tenth log online – simple enough. This would be the case, unless the FTF was shared by two or more cachers. Let’s say, there are three cachers sharing FTF, then you would actually be the twelfth person on the find list, but you would still claim tenth, because the first three shared FTF. This sharing only applies to FTFs. The sharing of FTFs need to be explicitly stated on online logs. An online found log that happens to be on the same day as the FTF, but doesn’t state something to the effect of “Co-FTF with BobtheBuilder” or “Found with my Dad” (when Dad specifically states an FTF) is not considered an FTF. For this challenge, everyone after the FTF is considered to be in single order – no sharing of 2ndTFs, 3rdTFs, and so on.

If you find it on a specific calendar day, log online that you found it on that particular day – there is no cherry picking order placement. To discourage jockeying, any log that has been edited – for whatever reason – no longer counts towards this challenge.

Many of you probably already have this completed and just need to dig through your many cache finds to verify find order. Happy hunting!

Remember, this is meant to be fun! This is simply an attempt to give a little recognition where recognition is due.
