Geocache Description:

You're looking for a small lock n lock container with a log and a few small trade items.

Pine Ridge Cemetery is located 1 mile east of Navarino, on the south side of Route 20 in the Town of Onondaga, Onondaga County, New York. The cemetery was established in 1804. Originally called Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, followed by Pine Grove Cemetery and then the present, Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Here is an excerpt from the original deed for the cemetery that we found online:
"Onondaga County Court House, Syracuse, N.Y. Deed Book C. Page 478. Transaction made 13th June 1804 between David Chaffee, Town and County of Onondaga, of the first part and

Beginning at stake on the height of said ridge several rods south of new State Road, run south four chains, thence west 2 chains and fifty links, thence north four chains, thence east two chains and fifty links to beginning containing one acre of land. Signed, David Chaffee."

9.00!!! How cool is that?!?!

This cemetery is still considered active even though parts of it are very old. It's well- maintained, so you can drive or walk almost directly to the cache. You're looking for a small pill bottle located at the very edge of the cemetery. If your GPS is accurate this shouldn't be a tough one!

Some of the Action Squad's favorite caches are in cemeteries and we like to share some of the unique ones that we find. It's nice to see the stones of our ancestors, and we want to remind you to be respectful of the area and to please only do this cache during daylight. Enjoy!
