Tombes Britanniques : C’est
à bord d’un bombardier quadrimoteur LancasterMK1 en mission
de bombardement des installations ferroviaires de Châlons que se
trouvaient les sept aviateurs dont vous voyez les
tombes.
Leur appareil qui avait décollé de
Midenhall (GB) à 21h, fut abattu par un chasseur de nuit allemand
au dessus de Saint Gibrien vers 1h40 dans la nuit du 16
juillet 1944 .

Lancaster MK1 bomber’s crew that took part in an air raid on
railway network by Châlons.
Their plane
took off from Midenhall (GB) at 9pm and was shot down by a german
night fighter as it was flying above St Gibrien on july 1944, the
16th at 1.40am.
