In the pre GPS days navigating yachts up the County Down Coast was a precarious business. Good identifiable landmarks were few and far between. This water tower is one of the exceptions - easily identifiable - a navigators friend!
There are great views from this spot - on a clear day you can see Scotland, the Isle of Man and clear down to the Mournes. There was a cache here previously but it kept getting muggled. This one, in a different location, is well camoed to make it last a little longer. The cache itself is a 35mm film canister with a log but no pencil.
There is parking nearby and the cache is wheelchair friendly although a little help may be required to extract the cache from its final resting place.
