This is your mission, should you choose to accept it: Armed only with your GPS assault weapon, you will gather intelligence in a hostile environment, rendezvous with an ally, and seek out (but do not destroy) the clandestine weapons cache.
Your objective is sequestered in the deepest quadrant of the Fern Ridge jungle, a heretofore unexplored and somewhat unpleasant environment where you will meet heavy resistance from poisonous flora, shoe-caking mud, low branches, nostril-invading gnats, spider webs and the like.
STAGE ONE: Intelligence-gathering phase. The visual data-gathering device provided will supply necessary information and visual intel on the next mission phase.
STAGE TWO: Seek out allies for additional intel. Again, the visual device will show the way, this time leading to friendly troops. Ask them for the coords to the next phase.
STAGE THREE: Unfortunately we have received information that this stage may have been compromised by the enemy. Use extreme caution. One report, that we cannot as yet confirm or deny, indicates that vital data may have been left behind by troops who were forced to flee under heavy enemy fire. The clandestine nature of this mission prohibits us from posting more detail here.
STAGE FOUR/FINAL: The weapons cache - at long last! Automatic weapon vocalizations will not be amiss here. Grab a squirt gun from the cache and shoot any insurgents foolish enough to have followed you this far.
I salute those who attempt this mission: The few. The proud. The insane.
Purple heart for the FTF.
Fine print: There's a trail pretty much the whole way, but it can be submerged in ankle-deep mud in places (year round). 1.3 mi. round trip from closest parking. Plenty of poison oak - your pants may brush up against it no matter how careful you are. Closest parking requires Oregon Dept. Fish/Wildlife parking permit. Free parking is .2 farther away (both waypointed below).
