Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is a 3,000 acre National Historic Landmark that includes a restored Shaker Village, fabulous dining, overnight rooms in restored Shaker buildings and a well-maintained, diverse trail system. All trails are open to hikers and most of the trails are open to horseback riders and trail bikes as well. You may even see a horse drawn carriage or two. The trails wind through woods, open fields, unique rock formations and over creeks.
Use of the trails by horseback riders requires signing a waiver and paying a minimal fee that helps maintain the trails. Horseback riders are directed to check in at the West Lot location. Hikers are not charged the fee. Shaker Village has great overnight boarding facilities for your horse. For more information on Shaker Village and to download a trail map visit www.shakervillageky.org.
West Lot Trail travels from the West Lot area where there is ample parking. This a primarily a pasture hike of about 2 miles, that brings you close to the "Into the Woods" cache on the Shawnee Run Trail between "Between Two Fields" and "Look For a Sign." Sorry, due to the large amount of wildlife dogs are not allowed on the trails.
Thanks to Don Pelly, staff naturalist, for permission to place this cache.
NOTE: This is the first cache along the West Lot Trail. When you park at the coordinates you will be right by the trailhead. Though it is not necessary to do these caches in order, they have been placed to help you find the right way to go on the trail.
