The Saint John Regional Hospital opened in 1982 after ten years of planning and construction. The new hospital replaced the former Saint John General Hospital, the West Saint John Community Hospital, and the former Provincial Laboratory. The Saint John Regional Hospital (SJRH) is the ‘flag ship’ of the highly integrated network that is AHSC. Its staff members take pride in providing leadership to the region and the province of New Brunswick through active involvement in teaching, research and patient care in secondary and highly specialized tertiary services. As anchor facility for AHSC, this 473 bed hospital provides generalized and specialized health care services for Regional Health Authority 2.
