Located along bridleway linking the hamlet of Broadwath and the village of Great Corby. Can be very muddy at start during winter months.
Tupperware box containing the usual small items. Second in a series of caches around our local hamlet of Broadwath. The many footpaths and bridleways in the area can make for a pleasant stroll. Broadwath is situated on a tiny tributary of the river Eden called Cairn Beck. This used to provide the power for a series of mills. The mill at Broadwath burned down long ago but the millrace is still there and is now a central feature in a small development of houses. The stonework still shows evidence of the housing for the water wheel which was the power generator for the original mill. The area known as Broadwath expanded in the 1930's with the construction of 24 Land Settlement Association houses to provide small-holdings for the unemployed. These are scattered all along the road from Warwick Bridge. Please see the listing for Buried near Broadwath 1 for more details.
