The "Talcott Ridge Cache " is located just off the Talcott Ridge trail near the Carey Pasture in Farmington with parking at 10 Mountain Spring Rd (off of RT 4). This looks like a private drive but veer to the left and park in front of the 3 bay town garage. There is only parking for 3 cars there. Do not park on the road as this is a very busy and narrow road.
After parking in front of the garage head into the pasture toward the old running barn that is being restored. Follow the mowed path with orange blazed FLT markers that lead in front of the barn toward the left side of the field. Continue to follow the orange blazes north across the field until you reach the woods line. Continue to follow the orange blazes into the woods as you are now on the Talcott Ridge Trail. You will pass some old shed thing but continue to follow the trail uphill. This trail may be a bit tricky to follow at times as the markers are spaced kind of far apart. Some sections of the trail are rather steep and the cache is located near the top of the ridge just before the trail ends. The single trail is less than one mile long and the cache is only a short distance off the trail. You're looking for a medium size lock n lock at these coordinates (N41 43.674 W72 48.686). Please take the extra time to re-hide it well so others can be challenged also. If you continue just a bit further up to the end of the trail past the cache location to the rock wall you may have a nice view depending on the season. This is not a very well know trail but you will encounter the occasional muggle so be aware. This is a Pasture and wooded area so wear proper clothing and expect to encounter poison ivy, prickers and possibly ticks, so take the necessary precautions. The trail to the cache is a bit challenging but the view at the top of the ridge makes it worth the climb (limited views during spring and summer) While in the area look for my other cache "Willies Pasture Cache" Thanks and have fun!!!!
UPDATE : The FLT has notified me that the pasture trails will be mowed every two weeks.
