This is the 9th in a series of caches that are based on places that have colours in its name. These can all be found on the 1:25,000 OS maps of Cornwall.
Black Rock can be reached from the Ninemaidens turn-off just outside of Fourlanes on the Redruth - Helston road, and at Farms Common on the same road. Or from turning off in Praze on the Camborne - Helston road.
The cache is hidden on Crowan Beacon which is quite visible from the roads but not that easy to get to. The only access we found was from using the given waypoints below, these can be found on the Black Rock - Farms Common road. The cache site and Trig point look close from the other side ( Redruth ) but you will only be thwarted by Barbed Wire fences, stone walls and cattle.
The stile at the start of the footpath is quite difficult to get over - High - and once you enter the common land the route to the cache is up to you, It may not be as straight foreward as it looks.
There is room for a car at the side of the road ( see below ) a few meters down from the start of the footpath.
When at the cache site, go a little higher, up to the Trig point, good views to be found, and an unusual carved stone at the base of the trig.
The cache is a good size lock & lock in a camo bag.
