Equestrian Trail Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Reviewer Revan: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so I am regretfully archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace this cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 10 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the Reviewer Revan.

Geocache Description:

The Ray Roberts Greenbelt Corridor has kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, bird watching, walking/hiking/ biking trails, and equestrian trails. No motorized vehicles.

The hard surface trail is for hike and bike use and equestrians may use the construction haul roads. No motorized vehicles are allowed. Hiking is permitted on the equestrian trail, but trail etiquette rules apply.

On the six miles of the southern portion of the trail, all users are on the east side of the river. The two trails converge at the FM 428 access point. Here the trail joins the Elm Fork River and splits into two trails, with the hard surface hike and bike trail, snaking along the river’s west side and the Elm Fork Equestrian Trail along the east.

At FM 428 there is a canoe and greenbelt access point, with parking and restrooms. Heading north, the trail winds a little over a mile and crosses under FM 455. The Elm Fork Trail continues to the Isle du Bois Unit on the south shore of Ray Roberts Lake.

Here is the original cache description, exactly as it was.

“The cache is in a tuperware type bowl with a blue lid. It contains a couple of matchbox cars, some cassette tapes, log book and a pen. You may want to take a pencil if the weather is cold the pen may not write.”

Enjoy a short walk along the Equestrian Trial, to the right of the parking lot, to get to this cache. It is no longer a plastic container. It’s a classic container that we all love to find, and tethered so it doesn’t wash away. I got it almost a year ago, for my birthday. It does have a working pen in it and I loaded it up with swag too. Please trade up or even if you take anything. Of course, you will want to replace it and the natural camo, just the way it was, for the next cacher to find. Practice "Cache In and Trash Out", to always keep our State Parks beautiful, and tread lightly in their woods.

Note, that as part of the Ray Roberts State Park system, there is a $7.00 fee to access the trails. You can use your state park pass if you have one, I just leave mine on the dashboard.

This cache has a current application on file at the headquarters of Ray Roberts State Park. This has been approved by the park Ranger and will be renewed when the current application expires.
