Welcome to the historic site of the Ovens Goldfields Hospital Facade located in the beautiful town of Beechworth, NE Victoria.
The hospital was built and opened in 1857 at a cost of roughly 2347 pounds and then closed & dismantled in 1940 when a new hospital was built on Sydney Rd, Beechworth.
The hospital, was the only one between Melbourne & Goulburn, NSW for a number of years, and serviced all of the N.E of Victoria. It had over 3600 patients in its first 5 years of opening. It had 100 beds & an isolation ward.
This site is registered by the National Trust and was renovated by the Lions Club in 1966.
This spot is one of Beechworths most photographed sites & is the backdrop for many wedding & family photos.
We hope you enjoy looking around the historic site & be mindful of distant muggles when retrieving & replacing the cache.
