Price River Rerouted Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Udink: I was going to replace this cache again, but since the trail got paved this area sees a lot more traffic than when I placed the cache. I'm just gonna let it go, and perhaps another day find a better spot for a cache. Thanks to all who stopped by to find it. [:)]

Geocache Description:

Behind the Creekview Shopping Center flows the Price River, but its course didn't always flow here. Looking at the 7.5' USGS topo map, you can see that the river meandered farther to the west where U.S. Highway 6 now exists. Presumably the river was rerouted to make room for the highway. Its banks are now made from fill dirt, shale, and boulders hauled in from elsewhere. Recently, several governmental and private entities removed the tamarisk and russian olive from the river banks, making this area much more accessible.

To reach the cache, park behind Kmart (at N 39° 35.842' W 110° 49.267') and walk west down the grassy strip, between the rows of trees. You'll find the cache near the riverbank, hidden in a drill hole in a boulder and covered by a small rock. Please leave the string hanging out of the hole to make retrieving the container easy for the next finder.
