Geocache Description:

Located at Farron, on the old Columbia and Western Railgrade.

This cache is located at what remains of the little railstop of Farron. This was a water stop and the summit of the Columbia and Western Railway between Castlegar (specifically, Robson) and Christina Lake. One can still see the water "spigot", some of the old rock retaining walls or foundations, and an old "root cellar" or cache.

This cache was hidden as part of the five quad (ten person) caching and quading adventure during the 10 year B-day of Geocaching weekend! We thoroughly enjoyed our day. The scenery, wonders of engineering, and fauna (a loose moose was encountered) were all very much appreciated.

This was close to our tournaround spot, as deep snow prevented further travel to the Paulson Bridge this day.

You are looking for a tobacco can. The Terrain difficulty only reflects the distance travelled off the pavement. One can get here via vehicle on a Forest Service Road that comes off the Paulson Detour Road. You can also get here by hiking, bicyle, horseback, or by quad from Paulson or from near the Hugh Keenlyside Dam at Castlegar (as we did).

If using motorized transportation, please respect others and wildlife on this multi use trail and keep speeds down. Also, we suggest carrying a patch kit and mini compressor. One of our group "picked up" a nail, but he had the required supplies!

Enjoy this multi use trail and the hunt!
