There are many old school sites in the surrounding area. Morton School was once a busy one room school house that my mother attended as a child. Yes...she and her siblings usually walked to and from school, as her home was less than half a ile west of this site.
The school is no longer here, but a commemorative cairn has been erected on the old school site. As with most cairns, the information on the plaques most often contain important facts, names and dates. This cairn has all of that information on it.
from the information on the cairn at the coordinates above, decipher the actual coordinates of the hidden cache container using the following puzzle.
From the information on the cairn, please solve the puzzle for the correct coordinates of the hidden cache which are: N 49º AB.CDE W 098º FG.HIJ
From the first date on the cairn:
A = the last # in the date subtracted from the second last number in the date
From the last date on the cairn:
B = the difference between the second # in the date and the last number in the date plus 1.
From the first date on the cairn:
C = the sum of the second # in the date and 1.
From the last date on the cairn:
D = the difference between the second # in the date and the last # in the date plus 3.
From the first date on the cairn:
E = half of the second number in the date minus 1.
From the last date on the cairn:
F = the first number in the date...easy!
From the first date on the cairn:
G = the third # in the date minus the fourth # in the date plus 7.
From the last date on the cairn:
H = the second # in the date minus the 4th # in the date minus 2.
From the first date on the cairn:
I = the last # in the date minus 4.
From the last date on the cairn:
J = the difference between the second # in the date and the third # in the date plus 1.
When you have solved this puzzle for the numbers for A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I & J...plug them into the cordinates in place of the letters above and you should be able to secure the cache in short order.
