Geocache Description:

A traditional cache located along the Guelph-Limehouse Trail system. Put on your hiking shoes and get out for a nice GeoHike!

Updated Dec 20 2015:
-------------------------------
Cache has been replaced with a larger container and hidden further away from the trail. While there today we found the Guelph Hiking Trail Club has blazed a new trail, the "Arkell Springs Loop" that now passes near our "Springs Eternal" cache and this one.

Container is upgraded to an ammo can with lots of swag for the kids.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Years ago the Brigade explored the section of the GLT that runs from Watson Road to the vicinity of the Starkey Hill trail system. We came across an area that appeared be the remains of an old homestead. There is a clearing with the remnants of a garden including a number of fragrant bushes, hence the name of the cache.

Access to this section of the GLT can be found along Watson Road. Look for the orange blazes at the gate for Fire# 0688. An alternative is to park at the Starkey Hill parking lot on Arkell Road and follow the white trail blazes across the road from the lot. A third option is to park at the Nassagaweya-Puslinch townline and Arkell Road and hook up with the main trail from that end.

The third option is by far the most enjoyable hike. Definitely not the direct route to the cache, but it makes for a very nice 3 km round trip. Be sure to watch the blazes and not just follow the beaten path! There are several turns that need to be made to stay on track. I've included them as additional waypoints.

There is a maintenance road running north from Arkell Road to the vicinity of the cache. If you do not wish to do the full loop of the white trail, this one can bring you back to the Starkey Hill parking lot.

Cache is listed as winter friendly, but mileage may vary depending on how much snow falls and how it drifts.

In addition to the small inventory of trade items, the cache has been stocked with a variety of branded pens. If you take a pen, please leave a similarly interesting pen in it's place!
