Beddington Lane tram stop is on route 3 between Wimbledon and West Croydon which follows the old single-track British Rail route for the most part, which was closed on 31 May 1997 so that it could be converted for Tramlink. Beddington Lane is one stop from Mitcham Junction which also has a mainline station.Within this section, from near Phipps Bridge to near Reeves Corner, route 3 follows the Surrey Iron Railway. This gives Tramlink a claim to the world's oldest aligned trackbed.
This cache-approximately 500m from the tram stop- can be discovered by itself or in conjunction with other local caches-SideTracked Mitcham Junction,Hackbridge and not-so-sidetracked with pleasant footpaths and (obviously) convenient public transport links.
If travelling from the Wimbledon direction you will need to cross the tramline to access the footpath-PLEASE TAKE CARE CROSSING
