Surfski1: As the phone box is no longer here I am archiving this cache sadly after placing it 15 year's ago. Time to put this one to bed. Thanks to all the cachers who have found this over the year's.

Geocache Description:

Pensarn Harbour
Lies about a mile inland at the mouth of the river Nantcol. Built Originally in the 1700s it was used for importing coals and lime stones, and occasionally exporting oak bark to Ireland. One of the buildings has clearly been a lime kiln at sometime in the past. Road transport caused its decline and it became a resting place for unwanted ships of Porthmadog, Barmouth and Aberdovey. With the opening of the Llanfair slate quarry a new lease of life was anticipated. However this never materialised. It is now used as a water activity centre. A few hundred yards northwards one may see the ribs of a rotting hulk, this we believe to be the remains of the Unity of Barmouth, built about 1830.

The cache is a magnetic key holder and contains only the log so you will need to bring your own pen or pencil. It is hidden within a familiar object and is accessible to wheel chairs but some assistance maybe required. There is parking for 1 or 2 cars adjacent to GZ.
