Geocache Description:

This is a coffee can just a short way off the trail. It is winter friendly and in plain sight.

The Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association is sponsoring a geo-caching challenge. There will be one challenge cache at each of the SVCA's 7 preserves (Palermo, Whitefield Salmon, Stetser, Trout Brook, Bass Falls, Griggs and Marsh River)
Each of the challenge caches will have a coupon redeemable for a SVCA tee shirt as the FTF prize. Any cacher is welcome to claim as many of the FTF's as he or she can get but, please, only one tee shirt per cacher. There will be a special prize for any cacher that gets all 7 FTFs. And further, any one who gets all seven caches at any time between 5/29/10 and 9/6/10 will get a prize (there are special ones for the children). In order to claim those prizes you must bookmark your finds and make the list public/shared. Prizes can be claimed at the SVCA office at 624 Sheepscot Road in Newcastle.

The following is a little information about the Marsh river Preserve taken directly from one of their flyers:

Marsh River Preserve 70 acres off Osprey Point Road in Newcastle protects over 1 mile of frontage along the Marsh river. Two miles of trails wind through mixed forest and along beautiful salt marshes offering views across the river.. Interpretive guide highlights ecologically significant features, history and geology of the area.

This cache is a small lock and lock not far off the D trail. It is in plain sight and winter friendly. The terrain is generally a 1.5 on the trail but the last few feet to this cache is a 2 or 2.5.

Please replace the cache where found and, as always, take out what you bring in to the area.

Once the challenge launched there will still be plenty of room for more caches if anyone is so inclined.

Hunting is allowed in the Preserve so, please, during hunting seasons wear ORANGE.
