Cooperating with the Darby Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest and the U.S. Forest Service, we are hosting a CITO event cache. This is our first ever hosting of any event cache, so we hope that it is well attended! We are also having this event another celebration of 10 years of Groundspeak and Geocaching. We will be joined by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for this event, so there will be lots of festivities for the day. We are planning a start time of 10:00 am.
The CITO event will be held at the Black Bear Campground. Erica Streyer of the Darby Ranger District has plans for us to help with trash pickup, cleaning out firepits, moving cut brush, and painting picnic tables. Erica heads the recreation department, and she is using part of their budget to provide food and prizes for everyone who attends and helps. The coordinates listed for the event are also the coordinates for GC1V4C0, All Patched Up, which resides at this campground. This would be an excelent opportunity for anyone who hasn't found it to score two finds for the event!
Cub Scout Pack 4976 has adopted the Black Bear Campground, and will be there helping in the maintenance of it during the event. They have also taken to Geocaching, and have a profile through Groundspeak. Since this is also the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, they are planning on having a celebration of the centennial as part of their day, and they are inviting members of the troop that they are affliliated with, as well as other packs and troops to join in the event.
Please log if you are planning on attending as soon as possible so that I can notify Erica of our anticipated attendance in time for her to be able to get the food and prizes together before the event.
