Geocache Description:

Most geocaches are placed at a location of general interest to maybe educate and amuse the finder.

Not this one though.
There is easy pavement access, no walls to climb, and even lots of free parking at 51 36.668 N and 00 08.598 W. I doubt you will be bothered whilst hunting as I have never seen anyone on foot here, just passing motorists traversing a pointless road layout.

The Cache itself is hidden at shin height and, since the original vanished in less than a week, and in light of the new austerity in the air, it is made from a small piece of recycling. Log book and pencil only, there is room for some small goodies. A new container was put in July 2016.

Nearby is a nice view of an out of town retail park, in fact I think this roundabout is for those shoppers leaving who realise they have left their wallets on the tills. You might also spot one of the North Circular's better permanent traffic jams as three lanes get squeezed down to one just past the railway bridge.

Until the 1930's this was the site of a private sewage farm serving a nearby lunatic asylum, and a quick look at google earth reveals an interesting array of rusting abandoned cars all over the pocket of contaminated waste ground. You cannot see much of this interesting stuff from the cache zone however as it is fenced off and entry is prohibited.

There are two sides to every story though, and in 2011 a local pressure group voiced the opinion that this area, called Pinkham Wood, is an important local mature wildlife reserve. It's increase in importance to locals is probably due to plans to construct a large waste processing plant here. I am not taking sides on this issue, and hope my cache which is caught in the middle survives the struggle.
