Geocache Description:

Located approximately half way along the Treadwell Ditch trail.

During our recent trip on the Treadwell Trail we camped overnight. This cache is located near a large stream close to our camping spot. This is the first of many creeks lacking bridges. We spent some time building rock stepping stones and kept our socks dry but not everyone may be as lucky.

I really enjoy this trail but as fair warning- it is in need of some trail mix TLC. All of the large bridges are gone after this creek (towards the Sandy Beach end). There is a small influx of trail activity shortly after this cache because of the Bonnie Brae access trail but the trail is still in rough condition. Plan on fording creeks and climbing over downed trees. The trail itself is not overly difficult and I think the added obstacles keep the trail interesting.

I had poor GPS signal while hiding so I've made the hint stronger.

The Treadwell Ditch is approximately 18 miles long and originates from the Dam near the Black Bear chair lift and terminates at the old Treadwell Mine site at Sandy Beach. The mine needed large quantities of water for the milling process. This ditch collected water from several creeks and shepherded it along the mountain to the mine.

This is one of three caches that provide a coordinate clue for the Long Trail Bonus cache.
