This lake has a marl bottom, thus, the colour aqua. Marl was removed from the lake and taken by train into Durham to be made into cement blocks.....quite a number of years ago! There are traces of the old railway bed on the other side of the lake. There is a lovely drive on the Heritage Road in the summer when the trees are full of leaves.
This area is used for sun bathing and swimming in the summer so there is a high muggle alert at that time. No need to go on private property. There is a large waste container nearby so if necessary... please practice "cache in, trash out". Please place it back exactly as found.
