History Quest - The Road to Novelty Hill
The cache is about 0.1 miles from the parking coordinates, N 47 41.880 W 122 02.078, while the walk is not completely flat it's pretty darn close to it. After crossing the road (at the cross walk of course) you'll want to open the trail gate, and walk down the paved path, do not head for the dirt power line trail as getting to the cache that way would require a bushwhack though a delicate wet land area. Once your at the storm water retention pond you'll want to head off to the left on the gravel / grassy trail. Once you are where the main trail turns to the right and continues around the pond, you'll want to turn left and go down the slight hill towards the spill over outlet. from there you'll search for the cache. Some folks have also walked in from the housing development on the other end of the storm water retention pond, which you can do but be aware that the walk is much longer from that direction.
Many people think that this hill is Novelty Hill, since the main road going east/west over it is called NE Novelty Hill Road. In reality, Novelty Hill is the hill way over on the eastern side of the valley, across the Snoqualmie River.
Prior to the 1950s this road didn’t really have a name, locals referred to it as the Road to Novelty Hill. When the county got around to officially naming the road, they labeled it NE Novelty Hill Road. Even many modern day maps label this area incorrectly as Novelty Hill.
2-18-16, The Road to Novelty became History Quest - The Road to Novelty Hill, updates were made to the cache container and the description.
Congratulations goes to Shaddow for the FTF.
04-06-25 - I (SharkAndDino) have adopted this cache.
