nvhees: Na 8 jaar gezelligheid gaat deze cache met pensioen. Dit was de derde keer dat hij gestolen werd en we vonden het wel mooi geweest. Hartelijk dank aan alle vinders en nog lang plezier met cachen gewenst.

Geocache Description:

Cache is te benaderen van de openbare weg, a.u.b. geen tuinen in gaan bij het zoeken. Makkelijke cache, ook geschikt voor kinderen en minder validen. Auto kan rond de coördinaten geparkeerd worden echter gebruik van parkeerplaats voor de kerk wordt op prijs gesteld.

Cache can be approached from the public road; please do not enter gardens while searching. Easy cache, fun for children and accessible to disabled people. Car can be parked around co-ordinates, use of parking lot is appreciated.

Dit is een makkelijke cache die een mooie fietstocht door Biest-Houtakker oplevert. Wij raden aan om deze cache te doen als onderdeel van een fietstocht waarbij een rondje Hilvarenbeek, Diessen, Biest-Houtakker wordt gemaakt. De cache is te benaderen van de openbare weg en sommige bewoners zijn op de hoogte. A.u.b. geen tuinen ingaan tijdens het zoeken. Als u met de auto komt dan kan deze rond de coördinaten overal geparkeerd worden, echter wordt parkeren op de parkeerplaats voor de kerk op prijs gesteld.

Biest-Houtakker is een leuk klein dorpje waar het aangenaam wonen is. Er zijn mooie oude boerderijen en zo nu en dan loopt er ontsnapt vee door het dorp. Rond de kerk zijn de pastorie en de lerarenwoning te bewonderen. De rust in Biest wordt een beetje verstoord door het grote succes van het Aziatische "all you can eat" restaurant midden in het dorp. Rond etenstijd is het hier een druk komen en gaan. Echt klagen doen de plaatselijke bewoners er niet over, want ze gaan er zelf ook graag eten. In de omgeving van Biest-Houtakker zijn diverse kampeerplaatsen te vinden en er is volop gelegenheid voor wandel- en fietstochten langs het kanaal of door de bossen.

Zo nu en dan is er een aardigheidje in de cache te vinden. Wie er één vindt mag hem houden.

PS: Biest kijkt vanaf deze zomer met spanning uit naar de terugkeer van Whoohoome (TB4X34G).

This is an easy cache that can make for a nice bicycle tour through Biest-Houtakker. We recommend doing this cache as part of a bicycle round-trip through Hilvarenbeek, Diessen en Biest-Houtakker. The cache can be approached from the public road and some residents are informed. Please do not enter gardens while searching. When going by car; your car can be parked anywhere around the coordinates. However it is appreciated when you park your car on the parking lot in front of the church.

Biest-Houtakker is a lovely small village where it is pleasant living. There are beautiful old farms and every now and than escaped livestock wonders around the streets. Around the church the parish house and the headmasters’ house can be admired. The peace and quiet is a little bit disturbed recently by the success of the Asian “all you can eat” restaurant in the middle of the village. Around dinnertime it is a busy coming and going. The local villagers don’t really complain about it, they like eating there themselves. Around Biest-Houtakker there are several camping grounds and there is ample opportunity for hiking and bicycling along the canal and through the woods.

Every now and than a small souvenir can be found in this cache, if you find one you can keep it.
