Airdrop - Wrong Place Traditional Cache

Almost a drive-in WW2-history cache.

Nov. 27th 1944 an airdrop landed Near Åmodt in Skiptvet. It was meant to be dropped in Svinndal 10 km South-West, but due to bad weather conditions it landed here. The 18 containers with weapons were spread around in a large area. The Norwegian troops found the containers and with horses they gathered all the containers and hided them. First in a woodshed, later in different places around in the municipality. The men had to do the hiding at night, and a lot of housewives were wondering what their husbands were doing. One of them was told that her husband had been out playing cards, but he would not tell where or who they had played with!
In 1998 a monument was put up near the main road, where one of the containers was found.
The cache is a small, green army-container containing info-sheet, loggbook, pencil, FTFC+gift, 1 GC, 1TB and a few small trading items.

Den 27 november 1944 landet et flyslipp med våpen fra England nær Åmodt i Skiptvet. Det var ment å bli sluppet i Svinndal 10 km sør-vest, men dårlige værforhold gjorde at den landet her. De 18 containere med våpen ble spredt rundt i et stort område. Hjemmefronten fant containere og med hester samlet de alle containere og gjemte dem. Først i et vedskjul, senere på forskjellige steder rundt i kommunen. Mennene måtte gjemme containerne i ly av mørket, og mange husmødre undret på hva mennene deres gjorde. En av dem ble fortalt at hennes mann hadde vært ute for å spille kort, men han ville ikke fortelle hvor eller hvem han hadde spilt med
I 1998 ble et monument satt opp tett ved riksveien, der en av beholderne ble funnet.
