Sir Leisurely:

This was an enjoyable walk, but I now feel it is time to archive the series. Hopefully someone will place some new caches in the area.

Geocache Description:

Above co-ordinates are for parking.

To find this cache you need to collect the information that is written on the first page of the logbooks of the several caches hidden along the following route. Then insert them into the formula to find the final location. The walk is approximately 4.5 miles long and circular, you however do not necessarily have to complete it in one go as each cache can be done as a stand-alone if you choose. Just remember to copy down the information from the logbook.

1. This walk takes you around Parkgate, Gayton and the Dee Estuary and as I said previously if you decide to do the complete walk the distance you will cover is approximately 4.5 miles. During the walk you can look for several caches I have hidden on route.

2. There is free parking in the Old Baths Car Park co-ordinates as above this is where the walk begins. Walk from the car park away from the Boat House in a northerly direction with the salt marshes of the silted up River Dee to your left and to your right you will walk past the Heswall golf course. Ignore a footpath on your right but carry on for just over a mile until the path curves to the right before going down a flight of steps. This is where the first cache is hidden.( GC28GVK )

3. Walk up Cottage Lane slowly climbing you pass over the Wirral Way and continue on up past Heswall Golf Club on your right until you meet the junction with Gayton Road and Well Lane Another cache is hidden here.( GC28GV7 )

4. Walk down the cobbled Gayton Farm Road, which turns to the right and descends down to run through hedgerows and in turn leads you past the side of the golf course. Follow the footpath through the belt of trees ignoring the footpath across the golf course. The next cache is hidden along here. ( GC28GTZ ) Carry on over the planked bridge and turn sharp left to walk along the very edge of the golf course.

5. Pass through a gate and follow the obvious path over the field pass through the gate another cache is hidden here.( GC28GTV ) cross over the stream pass through more gates and continue on with Backwood Hall on your right continue to walk along the lane where another cache is hidden. ( GC28GTK )

6. Turn right into Boathouse Lane and walk down the hill until you reach the bridge that crosses over the Wirral Way another cache is hidden here. ( GC28GTC ) Drop down on to the Wirral Way turning right under the bridge and walk along the way this is where another cache can be found.( GC28VQ4 )

7. Continue on your way and it is along here that the final cache “Leisurely Walks - Parkgate – The Walk” is hidden.

8. Where this section of the Wirral Way ends turn right on to Station Road and continue on down past the cricket club and the Old Quay on your left before turning right on to the Parade it is now time to enjoy an ice cream before continuing along the front of Parkgate towards the Boat House and back to your starting point.

Hopefully you will have found all the hidden caches and you can insert the values into the formula below.
