An easy and fun multi in Birkenhead Memorial Park (the home of the mighty Northcote Tigers, as well as the local athletics, rifle cricket and other sporting clubs) that will have you scratching your head and chasing your tail!
Your starting point is at the coordinates given. Once you arrive at the coordinates, have a good look around. You will find yourself at the entrance to an athletics club.
The coordinates for waypoint 1 are S 36° 48.AAA E 174° 43.BBB
AAA = 474 - (year athletics club was established - 1806)
BBB = 279 - (year rifle club established - 1843)
At waypoint 1 you will find yourself at a practice area for the sporty types in our community. Perhaps you could brush up on your ball skills? Use the information found here to find the coordinates for waypoint 2.
The coordinates for waypoint 2 are S 36° 48.CCC E 174° 43.DDD
CCC = AAA + (135 + number of large metal gates)
DDD = BBB + ( 4 x number of practice pitches)
With all of that solved it's time to wag your tail over to waypoint 2. IIt's handy to know we can train at all hours of the day and night with these handy lights. Use the clues here to find the coordinates for waypoint 3.
The coordinates for waypoint 3 are S 36° 48.EEE, E 174° 43.FFF
EEE = CCC - (5 x number of lights on pole)
FFF = DDD + 1 + (6 x number of capital letters pressed into concrete pole)
If you are finding this cache by night, use the lights to guide you over to waypoint 3 where you will find a door! On the door you will find a phone number. Use the phone number to help you find the coordinates for waypoint 4.
The coordinates for waypoint 4 are S 36° 48.GGG, E 174° 43.HHH
GGG = EEE - (9 + the sum of all of the numbers in the phone number visible on the door)
HHH = FFF - (sum of the first six digits in the phone number on the door)
Frollick over to waypoint 4 and you will find yourself at the top of a set of stairs. Look down and count the number of risers on the stairs and use that number to find the coordinates for waypoint 5. If you are feeling energetic why not run up and down them a few times? Our dog certianly would!
The coordinates for waypoint 5 are S 36° 48.III, E 174° 43.JJJ
III = GGG + (68 + number of risers on stairs)
JJJ = HHH + (19 + number of risers on stairs)
You are nearly there! You are certainly chasing your tail aren't you? Getting dizzy yet? At the coordinates for waypoint 5 you will find the information you need to find the final cache container.
The coordinates for the final cache are S 36° 48.KKK, E 174° 43.LLL
KKK = III - ( number of letters in the web address + 7)
LLL = JJJ + (number of full stops in web address)
