A rich history comes with this cache container. It started life as a container for Stop and Go, Go, Go - a traveling cache (now archived) that went from stop sign to stop sign. It arrived in the beautiful Hood River Valley in March 2010 and then seemed to disappear, along with a very nice TB for GeoWoodStock8. We live right down the road a piece from the last known location and went to investigate. This led us to believe that the sign in question was recently changed...a brand new one was there!
We thought that maybe, just maybe the county road crew might still have the cache - perhaps still magnetically attached to the old sign post. We called them up and talked to the county guy road master. He talked to the sign crew - sure enough, that sign was replaced because of graffiti - right after March 1st when the Stop and Go, Go, Go cache was placed there!!! And, the sign crew did find the cache - looked inside and saw some papers, and threw it into the back of their truck. When they looked the day we called (and the phone guy looked, too) they couldn't find it because of all the stuff in the back of the truck...(could be a story there.) They promised to call if it did turned up during the truck cleaning that would happen soon.
A week or so later, the cache container did not show up - and they remembered - the sign crew just threw it out the day they found it! Ouch! The container got replaced for the traveling cache and the TB was listed as "gone - RIP"...
But that was not the end
Two months later, we got a phone call from the county road master. They found the cache container stuck to the bottom of the garbage can! Good thing it was magnetic! It still contained the logs and TB!
We are resurrecting the container here as the Go and Stop, Stop, Stop cache. The cache location is near the same spot where the school bus we rode in grade school used to cross the 2 lane state highway. Dangerous! The "new" interstate - 4 lanes - came in circa 1966!
The cache starts out with that same missing-now-back TB and a coin for FTF! It should be easy and there is some fairly easy parking nearby. It can be reached from either direction on the freeway, although there is no direct crossing access anymore! One has to use the overpass...
