Head for Nature's trail!
Welcome to 'Nature Interpretation Center' (NIC) of the Sanjay
Gandhi National Park (SNGP), Thane. The SNGP is spread across
Borivali (suburb) and Thane, so geocachers have to keep in mind to
head to Thane and not Borivali.
The entry gate for the NIC is at TIKUJINIWADI, THANE WEST.
The park basically is to cater to the educational needs of the
people in Thane and the eastern suburbs of Mumbai. This center has
a photographic presentation of Sanjay Gandhi National Park’s
flora & fauna, problems in protection, how and why
people’s participation is must, in protecting this valuable
gift of nature etc. The theme illustrating the myths of nature and
its intricacies is also depicted. Medicinal plant garden, small
nature trail and beautiful pond add to its educational value.
The cache is a small traditional container in a zip lock bag,
which is secured by a green bag. The cache gives room for Travel
bugs and some goodies. Geocachers are requested to log their
entries and hide the cache smartly as there may be muggles (local
villagers) wandering.
