Geocache Description:

Since this is my 100th hide, I wanted to do something a little different.
I hope you enjoy it!!

NOTE: THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES
(see below for more information)

THE DIFFICULTY & TERRAIN

The difficulty rating is based on the questions that need to be answered and the challenge at Stage 2, as well as actually finding the various stages of the cache. Stage 2 will probably be a little more difficult to locate than the other stages. However, be advised that the coordinates are the average of 500 readings, with 6 feet of accuracy. Also, I have provided a hint at Stage 1 for Stage 2, should you need it. The other two stages should be found fairly easily.

The terrain rating reflects the various terrains you will encounter while progressing to the final stage. Stage 1 would be considered 1.5, Stage 2 and the final stage are slightly more demanding.

NOW WHAT?

So you've answered all the questions and you have your 1st set of coordinates...now what??? If you would like to confirm your coordinates for Stage 1, you can check them here.

The coordinates will lead you to a micro container that will provide you with the coordinates for Stage 2, which is about 1/10th of a mile from Stage 1. There is parking available near Stage 1.

At Stage 2 you will be looking for a specially designed, locked, cylindrical container, measuring approximately 1-1/4" in diameter. Inside the container are a few questions which, when correctly answered, will provide the coordinates for the final stage. Of course, in order to access these questions, you will first have to determine how to open the lock. A bit of luck and/or persistence would be helpful here.

You see, the lock is a 3-digit combination lock. The correct combination is a sequence of digits between 1 and 100 (read from top to bottom, using the white dots on the lock as markers). You'll just need to keep trying until you arrive at the correct one. No tricks. No hints. No gimmicks. (Look on the bright side - I've eliminated 90% of the possible combinations!!)

The container for this stage is in a relatively secluded area, though an occasional muggle may pass by. Accordingly, please use stealth when necessary so as not to jeopardize the placement of the container.

When you do finally get the container open, please be sure to reassemble everything just as you found it, lock it back, and set the combination back to "0-0-0". Also, please be sure to re-hide it well so it doesn't disappear.

BONUS

There is a special certificate for First to Find.

Also, those persons who successfully complete and log this cache within the first 100 days following publication (5/31/2010 - 9/7/2010) are eligible for a "Top 100" prize
(Wal-Mart gift card). In order to be considered for the prize you merely need to guess a number between 1 and 100 (be sure to include your guess with your "Found It" log). Of course, you cannot pick a number that has already been picked.

The winning number will be based on the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing number (the cents portion) on the 100th day following this cache's publication (September 7, 2010). In the event the closing number is a whole dollar amount, that will be considered as 100. The person who comes closest to the number without going over will be the winner.

RESULTS: The DJIA closing number on Day 100 (9/7/2010) was 10,340.69. Congratulations to Chef Cachman for the winning guess. Your gift is forthcoming.

FTF Congrats to SpongeBob CachePants!!

Congratulations to these distinguished geocachers for finding the cache within the 1st 100 days:
