The cache is located in Hurcott Woods Local Nature Reserve which incorporates both woodland trails and the lovely Hurcott Pool. The reserve is 50 hectares in size, and within this area are various types of woodland, ranging from Hickory and Larch through to beautiful Chestnut groves. It lies between the A449 and the A456 , just outside Kidderminster. It is a superb spot for bird watching especially as the pools attract waterfowl. In May the Bluebells are fantastic and visitors come from far afield.
Hurcott local nature reserve incorporates the largest area of SSSI wet woodland in Worcestershire as well as the largest alder and willow carr in the county.
The trails are good but can get muddy after rain so sensible foot wear is a good idea. There are some gradual inclines but it is fine for most ages including children.
The cache is a 35 mm film cannister hidden inside a camo bag. It contains a log book with and a pencil.
Please ensure that you take all litter away with you and treat this lovely reserve with the respect it deserves.
This cache has been placed with the kind permission of Wyre Forest District Council and the Rangers who look after these beautiful areas - special thanks to Colin Cross (Countryside Ranger)
