Geocache Description:

This cache is placed at the site of an Eagle Scout Project that a young man from Marseilles IL Troop 0799 completed. Congratulations Capt Mick on FTF!

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in all of Scouting. The young man who has met the requirements of Eagle Rank has passed many milestones in his journey. The Eagle Project must demonstrate leadership of others and provide service to a worthy institution other than the Boy Scouts. This may be a religious institution, school, or community. This young man chose to sandblast and repaint the cannon which sits in front of the local V.F.W. /American Legion. This building has historic significance for Scouting as well. It was once the clubhouse for the Marsatawa Golf Course which once sat across the Illinois River in what is now Illini State Park. The golf course was built by W.D. Boyce the founder of Scouting in the United States. This cache is placed with permission of Marseilles V.F.W. Post 5506. Please remember that Geocaching is a family activity and cache contents should be suitable for all ages.
