A peaceful walk through a wooded grove where the River Eske meets Donegal bay.
A hidden gem starting in Donegal Town through a beautiful wooded grove along the River Eske outflow into Donegal Bay. The well maintained walk continues with fine views of Donegal town and the bay itself. From the trailhead in Donegal town the distance to the cache along this gentle walk is approx 1.5k.
A shorter walk is possible from CP02 but you will loss some of the finer views - from CP02 the distance to the cache is 0.5k approx.
(For those who take the longer walk and wish to make it a circular route return to the town from CP02 taking the road away from the shore.)
The route is wheelchair accessible but a little bumpy in places. From CP02 there is a very short but sharp incline (about 6/7m) where assistance would, possibly, be needed.
The cache is a regular .7L tab lock box with swappables, log book etc. Location itself is kid friendly though be careful of the edge at some points on the path.
UPDATE 17th August 2011 - the cache has been replaced with a new container. The old cache was devoid of any remaining swaps. Please do not take anything from the cache unless you swap - you are being unfair to geocachers who abide by the rules and make this so much fun for everyone. Thank you.
UPDATE 6 May 2012 - the cache has been enabled but in view of the fact that the repair work has not yet been undertaken the terrain rating is a temporary 3 until further notice. With regret the cache cannot, currently, be reached by wheelchair users.
