WW2 HMS Forward, Underground Bunker (Newhaven) Traditional Cache
Long Man: I have made two requests for this cache to be maintained and the listing is still disabled. I feel the owner has had sufficient time to carry out the required maintenance, but has failed to do so.
Because of this I'm archiving the cache.

Extract from WarTimeMemories website:
On the side of the B2109 at South Heighton is a metal gate into the hillside. This is the only surviving visible remains of HMS Forward, a major Royal Navy Intelligence centre from 1941-5.
Information was received by land lines and radio - the smaller receiving aerials being nearby but the transmitter was across the valley [so as not to desensitise the receivers] and had much larger aerials. HMS Forward monitored all movement in the Channel roughly from Bexhill to Bognor. It took radar reports from along the coast every 15 minutes and all movements were plotted.
