La Parguera Cays View Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
South of semi-arid farmland in the Lajas Valley, the fishing
village of "La Parguera" has developed onto a popular resort center
while maintaining much of its small town atmosphere. Guest houses
and inns, seafood restaurants, water sports and boating centers and
small shops fan out from the small plaza. In the evening, boats
leave regularly for nearby Bioluminiscent Bay, where millions of
luminescent dinoflagellates light up when disturbed by movement;
moonless nights are best. Numerous mangrove cays and islets form
ornate channels places. Bathers and picnickers visit Playita Rosada
Beach or Mata de la Gata Cay. Snorkelers and scuba divers explore
nearby reefs and spectacular outer shelf walls that lie up to seven
miles offshore. On weekends the town becomes more bustling. This
cache is located on road 323. In order to get there you must turn
left (if coming from Guánica) or right (if coming form Lajas) on
Road 116 Km 12.6. From its location you can have a spectacular view
of La Parguera cays. You are looking for a small cubic container.
Original contents: Geocaching sticker as the prize for the FTF and
a logbook. Please bring your own pen/pencil. Please park safely on
the side of the road, return cache as found and be careful when
walking to GZ (there are not houses near the GZ, but there’s
a lot of traffic flow). Please BYOP.
