This cache is called Nature cache for a number of reasons :
When you get to the cache location, turn off your car (or rest
your bicycle against a tree!), 99% of the time you will hear
absolutely nothing, except the nearby river and some birds chirping
- Beautiful
Apart from the nearby hand-made stone bridge, you will see no
buildings, no aerials, no signs of humanity!
Also at this location you will find a huge boulder (erratic) in
the middle of a bunch of trees. This erratic was placed here by
natural processes - the last Glacier to pass through this valley
thousands of years ago would have dumped this boulder here, as it
is not consistent with the local rocks.
If you look at this boulder closely you will see that it has
been subject to a natural phenomenon called Freeze Thaw Action.
This is simply a process where water manages to get into small
cracks in the rock, over night this water turns to ice and expands,
this process slowly cracks the rock further.
Over a period of time these cracks can be sufficient to split a
huge boulder like in 2, or in this case into three !!
To find this cache, you do not need to climb the boulder, or
need to check in one of the many large cracks.
Although these roads are fun to drive, please take care as
people live on these roads, as do sheep !!
Please replace the cache exactly as you found it to ensure it
doesn't get muggled!
Thanks and Enjoy this Nature Cache!
