[DE] Ein besonderes Naturphänomen stellt die Versickerung des Verlorenen Bachs dar. Hier verschwindet ein Bach im Erdboden, ohne dass bisher bekannt ist, ob und wo das Wasser wieder zutage tritt. Wissenschaftlich bezeichnet man solche Versickerungsstellen als Bachschwinde oder Ponor. Verantwortlich für das Entstehen dieser eindrucksvollen Bachschwinde ist die geologische Situation im Bereich Witzenhausen-Roßbach. Der oberflächliche Verlauf des Verlorenen Bachs liegt im Bundsandstein. Das Wasser verschwindet im Untergrund an der Stelle, wo es auf den hier vorkommenden Zechstein trifft. Dieses Gestein ist wasserlöslich und wird mit der Zeit soweit ausgewaschen, dass sich unterirdische Höhlensysteme bilden. Zum Loggen des Earthcache beantworte folgende Fragen. 1. In welchem Gestein verschwindet das Wasser? 2. Wie alt ist dieses Gestein? 3. Welche Höhe zeigt das GPS? [ENG] One particular phenomenon of nature, the infiltration of the Lost Brook. Here a brook disappears in the ground, but will not yet know if and where the water comes to light again. Scientifically called such places as seepage or Brook Vertigo Ponor. Responsible for the development of this impressive Brook Vertigo is the geological situation in Witzenhausen-Rossbach. The superficial course of the stream is lost in the sandstone. The water disappears into the ground at the point where it meets the Zechstein occurring here.
