Skidmore Avenue in Beechworth houses The Powder Magazine which was erected in 1859 by Dawson & Co.
The building acted as a storage room for holding gunpowder that was used in mining and quarrying etc.
The building is built of buttressed granite with slate roof and is surrounded with a high stone wall which was added in 1860.
Miners were required to leave bulk gunpowder here overnight by law as
the building was designed with safety features, so that if there was an explosion it would be directed upwards rather than outwards.
You are not required to enter this building.
You’re looking for a camouflaged cylindrical container containing logbook, pencil and a couple of swaps. It is not large so only small items can be swapped.
Have fun and good luck!
