Geocache Description:

There are no established trails from the recommended parking spot so be ready to bushwhack a bit. Additionally, Google maps does not have the roads correctly marked near this cache. This cache is winter friendly.

This cache is located near Penny Lake in Vilas County. Vilas County is home to over 1,300 lakes. Many of those lakes, like Penny Lake, are too small to have formal names and have been named by local residents. Penny is named because of its geometry and because of its larger neighbor Dollar Lake to the northeast. The habitat around Penny Lake is particularly good for frogs including the Spring Peeper. If you visit in the early evening during the spring or summer you may get serenaded.
