This cache is located near Penny Lake in Vilas County. Vilas
County is home to over 1,300 lakes. Many of those lakes, like Penny
Lake, are too small to have formal names and have been named by
local residents. Penny is named because of its geometry and because
of its larger neighbor Dollar Lake to the northeast. The habitat
around Penny Lake is particularly good for frogs including the
Spring Peeper. If you visit in the early evening during the spring
or summer you may get serenaded.

Thank you to Conserve
School for allowing this cache to be placed on its

Conserve School was established by Jim Lowenstine and you may
see some old signs with his name on them. If you see those signs,
you are in the right place. The border of Conserve School property
is marked with yellow stakes.
