Geocache Description:

Bigleaf Maple can be found and enjoyed in the coastal climates of southwestern BC. In most fall seasons the leaves of bigleaf maple turn brown, but during a sunny autumn, the leaves turn yellow but never red as seen on our Canadian Flag.

Maple flowers are quite sweet and edible and can be used in salads. They are small greenish-yellow, about 3 millimetres across, appear early in spring, hanging in clusters at the ends of twigs.
