Geocache Description:

BLM section South of town

With a pickup or 4wd you can drive right up to this one. A car may require a short walk. (200 ft or so) Shale is quarried nearby, so watch out for trucks.(during the week) This spot is accessed from the Sand Creek Road, It starts at the Cement Plant.
The usually dry lake bed bottom is bentonite clay weathered from surrounding shales. Its fun to play with, but shrinks too much for ceramic work except as plastisizer in small amounts ( a few percent). You can take your dogs here and it is pretty much a muggle free zone.

Cache has petrified wood in it for your rock collection.
Drive on down the road for more caches and to visit Hutton Wildlife refuge. Pelicans usually there from spring to fall.

There is some trash in the area. take some out if you can. This is public land, your land, take care of it please.

Congrats to doglover3pups FTF !
